Lebanese Tarboush Belle Époque Beirut

ProMax

Belle Époque Beirut was a city dressed in two scripts and eight languages: French gas lamps lit sandstone colonnades, red tarboush hats bobbed above black frock coats at the Place des Canons, and hand-set Arabic and French type shared the same café menu card. This design system distils that particular afternoon light — dust-rose limestone, tarboush crimson, gold-foil cartouche ornaments — into a typographic and color language that feels like opening a hand-tinted Fouad Debbas postcard.

The palette avoids orientalist fantasy and modern beige alike. Playfair Display provides Didone headline drama; Cormorant Garamond supplies the long-form editorial voice of a 1900s Levantine book. Every surface carries the faint grain of laid paper and the warmth of Mediterranean sandstone at four o'clock.
