The banig is a Filipino sleeping mat plaited from dried tikog grass — and from pandan and buri elsewhere — most famously woven by the women of Basey, Samar. Strips are dyed in strong, saturated colors, then tightly interlaced into bold diagonal geometric patterns over a natural buff-tan straw base.
This design system distills that vivid, rhythmically woven craft into a digital language: a real straw-tan ground, high-chroma dyed strips, over-under interlace texture, and rounded, friendly geometric type that matches the cheerful folk-craft register.
