Tassa is the goatskin kettledrum ensemble carried by Indian indentured labourers to British Guiana from the 1830s. Played at Hosay processions, Hindu weddings, and Phagwah celebrations, its rapid bamboo-stick rolls over bass thumps define the sonic heartbeat of Indo-Caribbean life.
This design system channels the visual world surrounding tassa — deep indigo Hosay banners, marigold garlands, brass cymbal glints, and hand-painted Berbice village wedding posters with their dense, warm-saturated layering.
