A blackletter masthead, austere rules, and the gray page make the institution visible before the first sentence is read.

The daily sheet declares its contract in type. Every rule is hairline, every margin deliberate, every column held to the discipline of newsprint rather than spectacle.

The page carries gravity through density. Black ink and yellowed stock replace decoration; the masthead alone performs the ceremony of trust.

Reports below the rule are packed with transitional serif text, allowing the texture of paragraphs to become the broadside's visual field.

Red appears only for urgency, a narrow signal among sober cream, black, and gray. Restraint is the instrument of permanence.
