II Chapter Two — The Reduced Frame Studio Karton Bulletin
Slide 03 / 12
The Manifesto, in four moves

Four rules we draw by

01

Subtract until it moves

A scene is finished not when nothing can be added, but when one more line would make the character heavier on its feet.

02

Hot orange, olive shadow

Two flat colours carry the joke; a third only arrives when the gag absolutely refuses to land on two.

03

One joke per card

If the gag will not fit on a silkscreen poster pinned to a bulletin board, it does not yet belong on celluloid.

04

Wit, never whimsy

A reduced figure earns its laugh by argument, not by cuteness; we draw clerks and bureaucrats, not bunnies.
