Every page felt like a well-organized filing cabinet designed by someone who had never held a crayon.
The Flat Design Reckoning
The pendulum started swinging back in late 2025, when three major design tools shipped texture libraries in the same quarter. Canvas added noise overlays. Stitch launched a "craft mode" with stitched borders and paper shadows. Even Codebase — Codebase! — redesigned their review page with a subtle linen texture. The message was unmistakable: the era of antiseptic interfaces is over. What comes next isn't skeuomorphism reborn — it's messier, warmer, and a lot more fun.
