III · The Ordering of Daily Life
04 / 12
Order Is Our Devotion
Rise before the sun and set the house in order
Every dwelling swept, every tool returned to its hook before the first bell of the morning.
Labor is the form our prayer takes
Hands at work from the morning meal until evening gathering — no idle member, no wasted motion.
Speak plainly among brethren
Direct words without flattery or adornment. The testimony of truth requires no ornament.
Gather the useful, reject the vain
Only what serves the community enters these rooms. Beauty follows naturally from good making.
