The discipline of three colours
What the Mother's Cloth Will Not Do
◆
It refuses the white that isn't earned
The ground is harda-soaked cotton — a warm tan the dyer steeps, never a bleached or ivory sheet bought from a roll.
It keeps to madder, iron and cloth
Alizarin red for the goddess, iron-black for her outline, the cotton itself as light — no blue, no green, no gilded fourth.
It carves the line before it fills it
Outlines are struck from a teak block, bold and ritual — there is no thin, decorative hairline anywhere on the shrine.
It seats the Mother at the centre
Mata sits frontal and enthroned; attendants, animals and devotees read outward in registers, never crowding her gaze.
