A Silver Disc Against the Blue Dark
On winter garments, the plate does not decorate the body; it makes a quiet instrument of weight, weather, and memory.
I first understood the breastplate as sound, not surface. In a small storeroom above the frozen river, each chain answered the next with a dry silver note. The garment beneath it stayed nearly black, so every hammered mark read like frost caught at the edge of a knife.
The ornament begins with restraint
Its order is vertical: disc, plate, loop, pause. That calm keeps the metal from becoming spectacle. A narrow gilded nick or dark niello line is enough to mark the hand, while the larger field remains cold and exact, carrying ceremony without asking the room for permission.
