The Mountain Doesn't Care About Your Dashboard

We wired a cliff face with sensors, then learned the cleanest decision was the one nobody could automate.

At 04:40 in Val Corta, the valley crew pinned two wind flags to a steel stake and killed three screens. The dashboard said the face was calm; the flags said the ridge was breathing sideways. Everyone trusted the cloth.

Speed is a design constraint

The useful screen was not the busy one. It showed gust direction, battery heat, and the five-minute descent window in numbers large enough to read through ice on a visor. Everything else was ego, so we cut it before sunrise.
