The morning ritual deserves a little more time
A warm table, a crisp slice of toast, and one small pause before the day asks for everything.
I started keeping breakfast simple in the winter of 2019, when the kitchen in our Turin flat caught the first stripe of sun at 7:12. Toast went on the board, the kettle stayed quiet, and the day began with a few unhurried minutes.
A table can set the pace
That pause is not precious or complicated. It is the familiar weight of a warm slice, the soft scrape of a spoon, the conversation that survives the school run. Set out what people love, leave room for a second helping, and let the morning feel generous before it gets busy.
