Designing what disappears

Four ways objects stay quiet

Form follows the gesture, not the spec
A pull-cord turns the player on because hanging laundry already taught the hand what to do.
One matte surface, one faint shadow
Soft milky ABS reads as calm against the wall — no glare, no chrome, no announcement.
Remove until only the necessary stays
Every button we deleted is a decision the user no longer has to make.
The dark cord is the only voice raised
A near-black label marks where attention belongs; everything else recedes by design.
