Last spring, I cleared one shelf in our Utrecht studio and left it empty for a week. The room did not feel unfinished; it felt like it had finally exhaled. A blank field is not an absence of decisions. It is a decision that lets the few remaining ones speak.

We now start each project with three marks and one color. On a Tuesday morning, that might mean a round corner, a generous border, and a yellow square. The limits are quiet, but they make every detail earn its place—and leave enough room for a person to bring their own meaning.
