The Band Holds the Field

Last winter, I kept a strip of adzed cedar beside my desk and redrew the same junction for fourteen days. Each pass began with an ovoid, then a U-form opened the dark around it; the lesson was less about making a motif than making the surrounding field legible.

Continuity is the constraint

That discipline changes how a page is built. A button cannot be a bright interruption, and a card cannot float as an isolated island. The primary band carries the eye in black; ochre-red marks a secondary turn; muted vivianite and green earth stay inside the form. Hierarchy arrives through relation, not decoration.
