Chapter 03 · Hall of Fame 03 / 12

The Four Truths of the Yard

Style over legibility Wildstyle letters interlock and fold until only the crew can read them. That is not a bug — it is the point. The wall is a cipher, and you are not the audience.
The wall is never finished Every piece is a conversation. Someone is going to go over it, cap it, or crown it. You paint knowing the surface belongs to the next writer as much as it did to you.
Can control is earned, not bought Fat caps and skinny caps. Three years in the yard before your flares are clean. No amount of imported gold-label paint replaces the muscle memory of a yard-worn stock tip on corrugated steel.
Steel remembers everything A burn-through etches the undercoat forever. Even after the buff, the ghost remains — a faint outline in the paint, a scar in the metal. The train carries what the city tries to forget.
