When Every Surface Becomes a Screen
A field note on interfaces that disappear into weather, streets, and the people inside them.
At 03:17, the rain turned the eastern district into a low-resolution map. Every window carried a different kind of signal: transit, weather, a face waiting for a door to open. I walked through the blue spill of the underpass and watched the city sort itself into permissions.
The interface is not on the glass
The useful fiction of a smart city is that it knows us. The quieter truth is that it learns our rhythms: the pause at a locked gate, the route we take when the cameras are bright, the moment we choose to remain unindexed. Design begins in that hesitation.
