A room earns its regulars
At 10:47 on a rainy Tuesday, I took the corner table because every other chair was claimed. The room did not ask me to hurry. It offered a mug, a low lamp, and enough quiet to hear my own plan.
The next week, I returned with a marked-up notebook and found the same constellation: two students trading headphones, a florist counting receipts, a neighbor reading yesterday's paper. Nothing dramatic happened. A familiar room made ordinary time feel worth keeping.
