FIELD NOTE 04 / CARROCERÍA
Why a Chiva Never Leaves a Panel Unpainted
On an Antioquian chiva, color is not a finish. It is the memory of the road.
The first thing you notice is not the engine. It is the refusal of the blank panel. In Medellín's hills, a chiva arrives wearing red enamel, yellow keylines, blue bands, and a name painted large enough for the last passenger to read.
Every panel carries a decision
A builder starts with the rack, slats, and hard geometry of a bus made for steep roads. The painter works outward: a ruled border first, a burst of stars next, then tiny leaves and saints that turn transport into a family signature. Nothing is decoration by accident.
