Chapter 2 · Building Blocks 03 / 12

Why Clay Feels Different

Depth comes from layered light
Each surface pairs a soft outer drop shadow with an inner highlight — two passes that fake real volume on a flat screen.
Every corner earns its radius
Button edges, card frames, and icon containers share the same generous curvature — nothing sharp survives the clay treatment.
Candy pastels that hold their own
Lavender and mint anchor the palette; peach and blue add range without tipping into sweetness — saturated enough to carry real UI weight.
Matte absorbs, never reflects
The finish stays soft and tactile — any specular gloss or glass effect would break the illusion of pressed clay.
