A future leaves a material record
On a 1,432-metre ridge, workers levelled the summit with explosives before raising a concrete saucer and a 70-metre tower. Six thousand people built it in 1981; the numbers still read like a specification sheet for a future that expected to last.
Inside, 937 square metres of small-tessera mosaic turn labour, science and collective life into a blue-and-gold horizon. Outside, weather enters through the broken skin: cobalt darkens, ruby glass loses its fire, and rust maps the reinforcement beneath.
