Heritage field note

The blue field carries the route home

A woven border is not decoration; it is a quiet map of cattle paths, winter markets, and the dignity of keeping warmth public.

I spent the first cold week of May following blanket traders between Maseru and the high road to Butha-Buthe. The best pieces were never shy. They held their cobalt ground like evening weather over the Maloti, with maize marks set down in gold and brown as if the field itself had decided where memory should stand.

Pattern is a form of address

The mistake is to flatten the cloth into a mood board. A Seanamarena blanket asks for frontality, weight, and ceremony: the pin-stripe remains upright, the border keeps its authority, and the center field refuses to fade into a polite page. When we build with these rules, the article becomes less like a screen and more like a wrapped announcement.
