The Weight of Every Line

Precision is not perfection

Each stroke carries intent. The woodblock tolerates no hesitation — only deliberate cuts that serve the whole composition.

Patience outlasts speed

Three weeks to carve a single block. The finest cross-hatched details are born from the slowest, steadiest hands.

Structure precedes expression

The perspective grid is drawn before the first figure appears. Order gives the eye permission to wander.

Nothing is arbitrary

Every shadow and fold of drapery earns its place on the block. Ornament without purpose is noise to the eye.
