The Benin Bronzes are cast brass plaques and commemorative heads produced by the Igun Eronmwon guild for the Royal Court of Benin from the 13th to 19th centuries. Hundreds of densely figured rectangular panels once covered the palace pillars in Benin City, depicting Obas, warriors, leopards, and Portuguese traders in deep relief.
This design system channels the patinated brass, deep court red, and ivory of the Oba's palace into a digital vocabulary — rectangular plaque grids, bilateral symmetry, and the weight of metal rendered as interface.
